WINSTON SALEM, N.C. (AP) - Police say a man had a gun in the parking lot of a pool in Winston Salem and he was arrested after a chase.

Multiple news sources report 35-year-old Nigel Denard Johnson was accused of having the gun and was arrested Monday afternoon. Authorities say pool workers notified them that a man had a gun in the pool parking lot.

Police say when they got there, Johnson ran. They say when Johnson was apprehended, police found a 9 mm handgun and a small amount of marijuana on him.

Johnson was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, carrying a concealed gun, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, trespassing in a city park, and resisting and delaying arrest. It is unclear if he has a lawyer.
