PENDLETON, S.C. (AP) - Anderson County sheriff’s deputies are investigating the shooting death of a man in Pendleton.

Chief Deputy Coroner Charlie Boseman told local media that the shooting happened shortly before 2 p.m. Monday. Boseman says a 39-year-old Timothy Lee Owens died after being shot in the chest.

Lt. Sheila Cole said a man called 911 to say he had shot his nephew. Deputies said the shooting followed an argument.

No charges have been filed as the investigation continues.

An autopsy was planned Tuesday.
