BOSTON (AP) - The mother of a young woman slain almost two years ago in Boston has wept as she testified at the murder trial of a man charged in the killing.

Cindy Lord of Wilbraham identified her 24-year-old daughter Amy in surveillance photos showing her withdrawing money from several Boston ATMS on July 23, 2013. Prosecutors said 30-year-old Edwin Alemany was driving her Jeep, seen nearby.

Prosecutors say Alemany kidnapped Amy Lord as she left her South Boston apartment for a morning workout. They say he beat her, forced her to withdraw money from her bank, then stabbed and strangled her before leaving her nude body in a park.

Lord’s family left the courtroom before prosecutors showed video of her body. Alemany’s mother left the room in tears.

Alemany’s lawyer has indicated he’ll present an insanity defense.
