POWELL, Wyo. (AP) - Park County government leaders are considering another attempt to increase the local sales tax by 1 cent.
County voters rejected a new sales tax in 2012 by an overwhelming majority.
Officials from Powell, Cody, Meeteetse and Park County have been meeting informally to discuss the idea of trying again.
The Powell Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1LqCgLh) that they have yet to decide what to do.
The general idea behind increasing the sales tax is to provide more money to Park County local governments to properly maintain and improve infrastructure such as roads, bridges and sewer systems.
However, not all government leaders are in favor of the tax increase.
