YONKERS, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a 4-year-old girl may have accidentally shot herself in the face with a handgun in a Yonkers apartment.
They say the girl, whose name was not made public, is in critical condition at a hospital.
The police report says the shooting occurred late Monday night. A semi-automatic handgun was found near the child.
The report says that so far, the investigation indicates the shooting was self-inflicted and accidental.
Police say they’re looking into how and where the girl found the weapon.
