OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - The Omaha police officer who lost her life last week in the line of duty loved what she did.

The Rev. William Bond said at Kerrie Orozco’s funeral Tuesday that she loved helping others in times of need and serving as a peacemaker.

Orozco was shot to death last Wednesday by a fugitive who was fatally wounded by another officer.

Bond says Orozco had strong faith and a habit of praying in her squad car as well as in church.

Before her daughter, Olivia, was born prematurely in February, the original due date had been Tuesday. Instead, it became Orozco’s funeral date.
