HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Forecasters say a few strong storms are possible as heavy rain moves across Alabama.

The National Weather Service says the main threats from Tuesday’s thunderstorms will be wind gusts of up to 60 mph, small hail and frequent lightning.

Forecasters say widespread rain and thunderstorms are expected Tuesday as an upper-level disturbance moves into Alabama. They say the weather system will interact with very moist air, and that heavy rain will result.

A hazardous weather outlook issued by the weather service states that the heavy rain could lead to minor flooding in Alabama, especially in places where heavy rains fell on Monday.

The Alabama storms are part of a larger system that caused major flooding and spawned tornadoes and killed at least eight people in Oklahoma and Texas.
