PIKESVILLE, Md. (AP) - Maryland State Police say they conducted more than 9,500 traffic stops during four days during Memorial Day weekend.

Troopers said in a news release Tuesday that 99 motorists were arrested for impaired driving. About 6,800 traffic citations were issued, and about 100 were arrested for drug offenses and other criminal violations.

Police say increased traffic enforcement will continue throughout the spring and summer.
