RENO, Nev. (AP) - Two people remain in critical condition at a Reno hospital with injuries they suffered in a head-on, wrong-way crash that killed two others on U.S. Interstate 80 in Sparks over the weekend.
The Nevada Highway Patrol said in a statement the driver of the wrong-way pickup truck had been drinking before he slammed into an oncoming car in the eastbound travel lanes and was killed near Sparks Boulevard about 3 a.m. Saturday.
The patrol identified him on Wednesday as 25-year-old Jaime Danilo Rosales-Gomes. His passenger, 20-year-old Ricardo Chicas-Gomez, was critically injured.
The passenger in the car also died - 27-year-old Mearl Elizabeth Winberg of Fernley.
The driver, 27-year-old Derek Huntley of Yerington, also is in critical condition at Renown Regional Medical Center.
The case remains under investigation.
