AUBURN, Maine (AP) - Prosecutors say they are still waiting for the completion of a psychological evaluation of a Lewiston man charged with running down and killing his pregnant girlfriend in Maine.

Evaristo De Deus (deh-DAY-us) pleaded not guilty in Androscoggin County Superior Court in October. His attorneys asked for the evaluation. De Deus is charged with killing his girlfriend, Laudrinha Kubeloso (Koo-buh-leh-so), who was four months pregnant when she was struck and killed by an SUV.

A spokesman for the Office of the Attorney General says the case will not return to court until the evaluation is completed.

De Deus and Kubeloso were recent asylum seekers from Angola. De Deus later tried to flee to Haiti.
