LAS VEGAS (AP) - A former Las Vegas police officer has turned himself in to authorities after his home was searched for child pornography, authorities said.

Las Vegas police said in a statement that 50-year-old Patrick Taylor surrendered to investigators at a court house Wednesday morning.

Taylor will face charges of possession and distribution of child porn.

He was taken into custody and is being held at the Clark County jail.

The man’s home was searched on a warrant on March 19 and he left his job in the Analytical Section of the Law Enforcement Investigations and Administrations Group on May 13.

Taylor joined the police department in September 1989.

The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Internal Affairs Bureau are investigating.

His attorney couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
