HINTON, W.Va. (AP) - Hinton police say gunshots that hit a school, two houses and three vehicles were an act of vandalism, not violence.
Media outlets report that the gunfire early Tuesday morning prompted a lockdown at Summers Middle School as a precaution.
Police Chief Derek Snavely says the shooter targeted windows. He says all evidence indicates that the gunfire was vandalism.
He says a witness told police the shooter was driving a red pickup truck.
