HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Huntsville police say a man who died in an officer-involved shooting had cut two people before charging at officers with a knife.

Department spokesman Lt. Darryl Lawson tells WAAY-TV (https://bit.ly/1Atm8bM ) 36-year-old Anthony Dewayne Briggs cut his brother on one of his arms and also slashed a neighbor who came outside after hearing a scuffle Monday night. Lawson says both men went back into their apartments and Briggs ran toward responding officers and was screaming while he held the knife.

Lawson says Briggs was told to drop the weapon and was shot when he continued moving toward the officers.

The officers who were involved in the shooting are on administrative leave and Lawson says an incident review board will meet to hear details about the shooting.
