INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Indianapolis firefighters say a 51-year-old man has died after being pulled from a house fire.

Capt. Rita Reith (ryt) says the man died at a hospital after lifesaving efforts at the scene on the fire on the city’s west side. She says firefighters facing heavy flames got him out of the house 14 minutes after being dispatched about 9:15 a.m. Wednesday.

Reith says a 38-year -old man also living in the escape escapes flames on his own and was hospitalized in good condition with cuts.

Reith says the home had no working smoke detectors.

The cause of the fire wasn’t immediately known.
