TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - A 20-year-old northwest Ohio man who pleaded guilty to reckless homicide in the 2014 death of his cousin is headed to prison.

The Blade reports (https://bit.ly/1chZNSH ) a judge sentenced 20-year-old Nicholas Braylock to two years in prison Tuesday. Authorities say the Toledo man was fooling around with a gun when Thomas Braylock was unintentionally shot to death in October.

During the hearing, Nicholas Braylock turned to his family and said he was sorry.

The victim’s mother asked the court to show grace to her nephew. She says she doesn’t believe he meant to kill her son.

Defense attorney Spiros Cocoves says it’s a tragic incident that no one wanted to have happen.

Nicholas Braylock had been indicted for murder, but pleaded guilty in April to a reduced charge.
