JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) - A successor has been named to longtime North Dakota State Hospital Superintendent Alex Schweitzer.

Rosalie Etherington currently is the Jamestown hospital’s clinical director for inpatient services. She’ll take over for Schweitzer when he retires at the end of the month.

Schweitzer has been the State Hospital superintendent since 1995. He’s also been the statewide human service center director overseeing the eight regional centers since December 2011.

North Dakota Department of Human Services Executive Director Maggie Anderson announced Etherington’s appointment Wednesday. Etherington has worked for the department for 20 years serving in multiple clinical and administrative roles.

The Center native has a doctorate in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology with a concentration in program development.
