SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Police are investigating after finding the body of a man next to Union Pacific Railroad tracks in northwest Salt Lake City.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1J40QT8 ) that police say the man killed himself. The body was found around 5 a.m. Tuesday. The identity of the man is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Union Pacific spokesman Jeff DeGraff says it is believed that a freight train hauling cars of grain struck the man early Tuesday morning. He says witnesses reported seeing the man lie down next to the tracks as the train passed.

There were no injuries to the train crew. Normal operations had resumed as of 10 a.m.
