LAKEWOOD, Colo. (AP) - Police have arrested a homicide suspect at a motel in Lakewood after a standoff that lasted more than eight hours.

Officers took 46-year-old Andrew Gutierrez into custody Wednesday morning at the Denver West Inn, about 5 miles west of downtown Denver. He was wanted in connection with the slaying of 41-year-old Eric Schnaare, whose body was found in an apartment about 10 blocks away on May 15.

People staying in the motel were evacuated during the standoff.

Two other people - 40-year-old John Sanchez and 44-year-old Amelia Irizarry - were arrested May 20 in connection with Schnaare’s death.

Booking documents do not indicate if any of the suspects has hired an attorney.
