BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A Baton Rouge teenager has been arrested after she allegedly shot another teen on accident while playing with a handgun and then lied to investigators about what happened.

The Advocate reports (https://bit.ly/1J1w6DS ) that Baton Rouge police arrested Mekiyah Davis, 17, Tuesday night on charges of negligent injury and obstruction of justice.

Police say Davis was playing with a gun when she accidentally fired a shot that hit an 18-year-old male teenager in the torso. The victim was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries

Police say Davis made false statements to avoid being connected to the incident. She was being held at East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
