ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) - Charges have been dismissed against a New York City police officer accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Atlantic City last year.

The Atlantic County prosecutor’s office announced Wednesday that it had dismissed sexual assault and aggravated sexual assault charges against Andrei Torres.

Torres’ lawyer said his 34-year-old client is a Marine Corps veteran who served in Afghanistan in 2005 and 2006 and is looking forward to getting back to work.

The alleged assault occurred last April at the Trump Taj Mahal casino. Torres and Devon Thomas of the New York state police were arrested last October.

The prosecutor’s office says charges against Thomas are still pending.
