TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - A Tempe man is accused of child abuse after his 2-week-old son was taken to the hospital with signs of shaken baby syndrome.

Bond was set Wednesday at $150,000 for 19-year-old Anthony Isaac Estrada, who doesn’t have a lawyer yet.

He was arrested Tuesday and booked into Tempe City Jail on one count of child abuse.

Court paperwork shows the infant’s parents brought him to Banner Desert Hospital in Mesa around 2 a.m. Monday.

Doctors say the boy was reportedly unresponsive, bruised, cut and suffering from traumatic injuries to all four quadrants of his brain.

Police say Estrada told officers that he held the baby in the air with his left hand, but then lost control and the child fell onto the couch, rolled and hit a board.
