TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - Animal control officers have ticketed a Trenton slaughterhouse for creating a public nuisance after a cow escaped.

The bovine fled Trenton Halal Packing Company during unloading on Friday and made its way to Interstate 295 after it was shot with a tranquilizer dart. It died shortly after.

Trenton Health Officer James Brownlee tells The Times of Trenton (https://bit.ly/1LH6M3F ) the case will be heard in municipal court.

The company’s owner could not be reached for comment.
