ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) - Longtime Winthrop men’s soccer coach Rich Posipanko has announced he will step down after the 2015 season.

Posipanko has spent 26 years with the program. His 263 victories are the most ever in Eagles’ history, and he ranks seventh among active NCAA Division I coaches.

He was Big South Conference coach of the year in 1991, 2006 and 2008. The Eagles have ranked in the top 10 nationally in scoring seven times between 2001-2014.

Before Winthrop, Posipanko coached at Longwood, where he became that school’s winningest coach with 117 victories.

Posipanko was active in fundraising, securing more than $250,000 over the years that went to upgrades to Eagle Field, among other things for the soccer program.
