1 killed in accident at surface mine in eastern Kentucky

PHELPS, Ky. (AP) - Officials say a surface coal miner has died in an accident in eastern Kentucky.

WYMT-TV (https://bit.ly/1LOwdjI ) reports the man died at the scene of the accident just before noon EDT Thursday.

The accident happened at Apex Mining in Phelps.

Kentucky State Police said the man’s name hasn’t been released yet, and further details weren’t available Thursday evening.
