GILA BEND, Ariz. (AP) - State authorities say two people are dead and five others injured after two vehicles collided on State Route 85 near Gila Bend.

Arizona Department of Public Safety officials say an SUV blew a tire and crashed into a medical transport van around 1:15 p.m. Thursday.

They say a passenger in the van was pronounced dead at the scene and the van’s driver died at a hospital.

DPS officials say three people were airlifted from the scene and two others were transported by ground ambulance but all had non-life threatening injuries.

The names of the dead and injured weren’t immediately released.
