YPSILANTI TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities are working to confirm whether a body found in a Washtenaw County lake is that of a woman who disappeared a year ago.

The sheriff’s office says a wallet belonging to Tonya Jackson of Ypsilanti Township was found Tuesday near Ford Lake, about a mile from Jackson’s former apartment.

The department says it believes the body found early Thursday is that of Jackson. The medical examiner’s office will confirm the identity.

A dive team was sent to the lake Tuesday and crews searched that day as well as Wednesday. The Ann Arbor News reports two vehicles were removed from the water along with the body.

The 43-year-old Jackson, a mother, was last seen at a Romulus motel with a co-worker in May 2014.
