BLUEFIELD, Va. (AP) - The president of Bluefield College in Virginia has decided not to resign.

David Olive announced earlier this week he would step down after eight years on July 31 to become executive vice president at Charleston Southern University in South Carolina. On Thursday, Bluefield College issued a statement saying that he had changed his mind.

Under Olive, Bluefield College resurrected its football program in 2012 after a more than 70-year hiatus. The college also launched several new academic programs during his time in office. Last year the college had its highest enrollment since 1998.
