DELTONA, Fla. (AP) - Volusia County sheriff’s investigators say a former Deltona Cub Scout treasurer has stolen more than $9,400 from the pack.

Multiple news sources report 37-year-old Eloisa Hilton was arrested Wednesday morning at her Deltona home. She was later released from the Volusia County Branch Jail after posting bail.

Investigators say Hilton, who also taught at University High School in Orange County, was accused of taking the money to pay bills, including four nights at a Tampa hotel. Volusia County sheriff’s spokesman Andrew Gant says Hilton admitted to the Cub Scouts pack she stole about $2,500 worth of funds in March due to financial difficulties.

Volusia school district spokeswoman Nancy Wait says Hilton was assigned to another position pending the outcome of the charges. It is unclear if Hilton has a lawyer.
