MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - The former police chief in Prichard will become the assistant police chief in Mobile.

Former Prichard Police Chief Lawrence Battiste will start his new job during a swearing-in and promotion ceremony Friday.

Al.com (https://bit.ly/1Rp3d64 ) reports that Battiste left the Prichard Police Department in December 2009 to become chief juvenile probation officer at Strickland Youth Center.



He’s served in law enforcement for 26 years.

Battiste replaces Assistant Chief Joseph Kennedy, who is retiring after serving 38 years with Mobile police.
