ST. LOUIS (AP) - New statistics released by St. Louis police show that homicides are on the rise.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that police have released April crime data. The city had 20 homicides in April, up from 12 in March. For the first four months of 2015, St. Louis had 55 homicides, up from 44 during the first four months of 2014.

Police have focused on hot-spot policing in recent months in an effort to reduce the number of killings in high-crime areas.
