GRETNA, La. (AP) - A Kentucky man charged with killing a woman has been found competent to stand trial after he smeared feces on his face in court.
The Advocate (https://bit.ly/1FDmCe9 ) reports 27-year-old Bryan Schwartz was escorted from a Gretna courtroom March 16 after he got some of his own feces on his hand and rubbed it on his face. Witnesses heard Schwartz muttering, “Life is like a box of chocolates.” A judge ruled Wednesday Schwartz understands the charges against him and can assist his attorneys in his defense.
A report filed by two court-appointed psychiatrists says while Schwartz has a history of depression, his behavior may be designed to create certain impressions.
Schwartz and 34-year-old Misty Eiermann are accused of beating Eiermann’s mother to death in Terrytown last year.
