PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - A 26-year-old man has pleaded guilty to robbing five banks in the Portland area a little more than a year ago.

The Oregonian reports (https://is.gd/n8VAEz ) that Morgan Brice Williams entered his pleas this week in federal court in the crimes the FBI attributed to the so-called “Short Stack Bandit.”

Williams told U.S. District Judge Michael Mosman on Tuesday that he took about $11,500 as he hit a bank in suburban Gresham and four in Portland in late 2013 and early 2014. He also acknowledged that he attempted to rob another Portland bank.

He grew up in Eugene.

Sentencing is set for Sept. 3.
