DENVER (AP) - A man connected by DNA evidence to a 20-year-old sex assault case in Denver has been sentenced to 25 years in prison.
The Denver District Attorney’s Office says 57-year-old Donald R. Shores was sentenced Thursday for attacking a 67-year-old woman on Sept. 6, 1994. He was convicted of first-degree sexual assault.
Prosecutors say the victim died of cancer in 2000, but DNA collected at the time of the assault was connected to Shores last year following his arrest in Texas on a drug charge.
