CINCINNATI (AP) - The number of shootings is way up in Cincinnati so far this year.
The Cincinnati Enquirer (https://cin.ci/1cjtfaW ) report that 162 people have been shot in the city through last Saturday. That’s more shooting victims in that time frame than any year in the past decade.
There have been 25 homicides in the city so far, which is about average for recent years.
The situation was detailed in a report given to Cincinnati City Council’s Law and Public Safety Committee on Tuesday.
Daytime shootings have rattled residents in at least five different city neighborhoods in the past month.
Robin Engel, a professor of criminal justice at the University of Cincinnati and director of the University of Cincinnati Policing Institute, calls the patterns troubling.
