PATCHOGUE, N.Y. (AP) - A Long Island man has been arrested for leaving the scene of a boat crash in which a woman was injured.
Mark Tricarico surrendered to Suffolk County police on Thursday - four days after the accident.
The 31-year-old Tricarico (tree-KEH’-ree-coh), of Selden, was charged with leaving the scene of a boating accident involving injury. He was released on bail and is to be arraigned at a later date. It was not clear whether he had an attorney.
About half a dozen people were aboard the 23-foot boat Tricarico was driving when it crashed into rocks at the entrance of Patchogue River on Sunday evening.
Police say one of the passengers, 29-year-old Danielle Virgilio, of Farmingdale, was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
