OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (AP) - Ocean Springs is going to try an app and a link from its website to Magnolia Studio’s Play the Coast. City leaders signed an agreement Wednesday night.

The Sun Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1LLpVl7) the app will list city offerings, promote events, list all tourism-related businesses and allow participating businesses to announce activities in a timely manner.

Paying businesses will be able to announce menu specials and music events and update the information themselves. Mayor Connie Moran says it’s as easy as posting on a Facebook page. The postings are time sensitive and will disappear when they’re over.

A spokeswoman for the company says Ocean Springs is the first on the Coast to have a city-specific app with participating businesses, and it should be available to download Monday.
