MANVILLE, N.J. (AP) - Officials say an early-morning fire ripped through a New Jersey home, killing a woman and her adult daughter.

The blaze broke out shortly before 5 a.m. Wednesday in Manville.

Officials say 80-year-old Olga Buchman and her 53-year-old daughter Linda Mann were found dead in the basement of the house. The pair fell in the basement when the first floor collapsed.

Manville Fire Superintendent Pat Rinaldi tells reporters there were no initial signs of smoke detectors in the house. It took about an hour for firefighters to control the blaze.

Officials say the cause of the fire is under investigation, but it doesn’t appear suspicious.
