AKRON, Ohio (AP) - A northeast Ohio man who encouraged his 12-year-old son to fight another boy and then recorded the brawl on his cellphone has been sentenced to two years of probation.

As part of a plea agreement, 39-year-old Walter Ganous pleaded guilty to a charge of endangering children and was sentenced Tuesday in Akron. An 18-month jail sentenced was suspended. Other charges were dropped.

A prosecutor’s office spokesman told the Akron Beacon Journal (https://bit.ly/1ex0etX ) that Ganous drove his son around a neighborhood in search of another youth he wanted his son to fight. Ganous was accused of recording the Sept. 12 fight on a cellphone and he can be heard encouraging his son to keep hitting the other youth even after the other child was seriously injured.
