VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) - Operation Blessing International’s U.S. Disaster Relief team is deploying to San Marcos, Texas to help following flooding of the Blancos River.
The Virginia Beach-based group left Virginia on Wednesday. The advance team is meeting with local emergency management officials and is expected to coordinate a volunteer effort beginning Thursday.
Operation Blessing has deployed its mobile command center from a Chesapeake, Virginia warehouse, a construction trailer from Ocala, Florida, and volunteer supplies will be sent from the charity’s Dallas warehouse, where they are kept pre-staged for disaster response in the region.
Operation Blessing International is a charity that provides disaster relief, medical aid and clean water in 27 countries around the world.
