CHESTERFIELD, Va. (AP) - Police have identified a 9-year-old Chesterfield County girl who drowned in a fitness club pool.
Chesterfield County police tell media outlets that witnesses were performing CPR on Raneen Khattab when paramedics and police arrived Tuesday night. She was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Witnesses told police that the girl fell into the pool at American Family Fitness.
The investigation is continuing. Police say foul play isn’t suspected.
American Family Fitness expressed condolences to the girl’s family in a statement to media outlets. The club says its staff is saddened about the incident. The club declined further comment.
