CENTERFIELD, Utah (AP) - Officials say more than 100 Central Utah homes have been affected by flooding, and the extent of the damage is still being assessed.

The Deseret News reports (https://bit.ly/1d1zxwt ) several agencies across Sanpete County responded to widespread flooding in the Gunnison Valley area Wednesday night.

Centerfield’s police department reported on Twitter that crews were attending to flooding basements in the city.

Police say the Gunnison Market grocery store, including some of its inventory, had been damaged in the heavy rain.

KSL meteorologist Kevin Eubank says the rural area was hit with a storm cell causing a lot of mud and debris to flow quickly. He says more rain is heading for Sanpete County into overnight Thursday.

Officials say they were grateful for the community volunteers who helped out.
