RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - Authorities have charged a suspect in a fatal shooting in Rapid City with first-degree murder.

Twenty-two-year-old Charles Metcalf of Rapid City died early Monday after being shot multiple times. Twenty-year-old suspect Sean Marshall was arrested on drug and alcohol charges at the scene. Authorities on Thursday added the murder charge.

The Rapid City Journal says police reports show Marshall admitted to shooting Metcalf, his cousin, but also said he feared for his life because Metcalf had come at him with broken glass.

Police say Metcalf was shot in the back.
