TOWNSEND, Del. (AP) - A 51-year-old female resident has been shot during a home-invasion robbery in the Townsend area.

Delaware State Police say three men, two of them armed, forced their way into the home early Tuesday morning, demanding money from the residents.

Delaware State police spokesman Master Cpl. Jeffrey Hale says the resident pulled out her own gun, exchanging fire with the intruders and was wounded.

A 1-year-old infant was also at home during the incident.

Hale says the robbers fled the home after taking an undisclosed amount of money.

A 31-year-old male resident was also assaulted by the robbers. He and the gunshot victim were taken to Christiana Hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Hale describes the robbers, who were wearing masks, as two black males and one Hispanic male.
