ALEXANDER CITY, Ala. (AP) - A South Korean auto parts manufacturer is planning to expand in central Alabama and create hundreds of new jobs.

WSFA-TV reported Wednesday (https://bit.ly/1Fcwpod ) that Korens Inc. is looking to create 200 jobs in Alexander City by the end of 2019 and 400 positions by the end of 2021. Alexander City is roughly 55 miles northeast of Montgomery.

Korens President William Chin says the company chose to expand in Alexander City because of the sense of community and the receptiveness of the city’s residents.

Officials say the company will get assistance from Alabama Industrial Development Training during the hiring process and production is expected to begin in 2017.
