WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) - A former Yonkers police officer has received a jail sentence after lying to get a search warrant for a raid in which a man died.
Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore says Neil Vera was sentenced Thursday to six months of weekends in jail.
The former narcotics unit officer pleaded guilty on April 23 to perjury and official misconduct.
A second defendant, former Yonkers Detective Christian Koch (kahch), will be sentenced on Sept. 10. He’s expected to serve eight weekends in jail.
A tenant in the building, Dario Tena, was killed when he fell out of a window during the March 2014 raid.
