VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) - A prosecutor says no charges will be filed against Virginia Beach police officers involved in three nonfatal shootings this month.

Virginia Beach Commonwealth’s Attorney Colin Stolle says the officers in each incident acted properly.

Media outlets report that Stolle announced the decision on Wednesday in letters sent to Police Chief Jim Cervera.

Police have said officers shot Christopher Cody Smith on May 1 after he fired a gun at them.

On May 8, officers exchanged gunfire with James Wallace Jr. Police confronted Wallace following the fatal shooting of a woman and the wounding of another man.

Louis Fernando Vazquez was wounded during an exchange of gunfire with an officer on May 15 following a robbery and hostage incident.
