GOLDEN MEADOW, La. (AP) - Golden Meadow police say a 35-year-old Galliano woman is accused of stealing more than $12,000 from the checking account of a children’s baseball league.

The Courier reports (https://bit.ly/1JWNrNx) Renee Serigny (sehr-in-YAY’) was booked Tuesday with two counts of felony theft.

Police Chief Reggie Pitre (PEE’-tree) says Serigny is accusing of taking $12,582 from the Golden Meadow Babe Ruth and Cal Ripken league’s account, while she served as a board member.

Pitre said the leagues’ board of directors contacted authorities May 20 after noticing improper financial records. Pitre says Serigny confessed to using the money for personal matters.

Serigny was released from the Lafourche Parish jail Tuesday after posting a $4,000 bond.

Online jail records did not list an attorney for Serigny.
