MEDIA, Pa. (AP) - A woman charged with fatally shooting her police officer boyfriend at his home in the Philadelphia suburbs has waived her formal arraignment and pleaded not guilty.

Twenty-seven-year-old Tyaina Finch is charged with first- and third-degree murder and other charges in the March 28 shooting of 26-year-old Mark Hudson.

The Collingdale man worked part time for the Darby Borough police force in Delaware County for four years and was also a volunteer firefighter.

The Delaware County Daily Times reports (https://bit.ly/1Hy0Vu1 ) Finch called 911 after the shooting and told emergency responders, “It was an accident” claiming their dog was carrying Hudson’s service weapon in its mouth when it fired.

Police say Hudson later told them she shot Hudson after he threatened to kill her during an argument.

She entered the plea Wednesday.
