CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - State officials are celebrating the opening of the newest section of Corridor H.
Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin and Transportation Secretary Paul Mattox appeared at a ceremony Thursday marking the opening of the 4.4-mile section running from Bismarck to the Tucker County line.
Tomblin plans to put an additional 7.5-mile stretch of Corridor H out for bid in the coming weeks, with construction expected to start by spring 2016. The new stretch of will go from Kerens halfway to Parsons.
A 10-mile stretch into Davis, Tucker County, is under construction with expected completion in fall 2015. Nearly 76 percent of Corridor H will be finished after that.
When Corridor H is completed, it will connect Interstate 79 near Weston with the junction of Interstates 81 and 66 in Front Royal, Virginia.
