HURRICANE, Utah (AP) - Police say a 14-year-old boy was killed when a pickup truck drifted to the side of the road in Hurricane.

The Deseret News reports (https://bit.ly/1LOXv9C ) that Gavin Pryor was killed just before 11 p.m. Wednesday. Police say a 26-year-old man driving a 2006 blue Toyota Tacoma drifted off to the side of the road where four juveniles were walking.

The driver told police he was reaching for food when he drifted. Three of the juveniles got out of the way, but Gavin was struck and pronounced dead at the scene. The point of impact was about 6 feet from the curb.

Hurricane Police Sgt. Brandon Buell said the incident is a reminder for drivers to pay attention to the road and for pedestrians to use sidewalks when walking.
